Salmon fishing in Patagonia
Salmon fishing in the Aysen region involves first being after two species rather than one. Coho and Chinook cohabit in these waters and can be the subject of days dedicated to them during the stays. The end-of-season runs are sometimes impressive and the strength of the most sturdy equipment can be put to the test. There are no additional licenses or fees to fish, which leaves the freedom to decide whether to switch from trout to salmon if a fish is observed. You will just be facing the biggest salmonids in the world there ... brutal sensations are to be expected!
Equipment
A 20lbs line and heavy casting set will be required to hope to catch a salmon in strong waters.
A two-handed fly rod with a shooting head or skagit line is the ideal equipment.
Clothing: Waders (allow waterproof jacket, gore tex jumpers and spare clothes as well as a waterproof bag). Sunglasses and / or polarizing, sunscreen, mosquito repellent.
